Heroes Path Lore

The western reaches of the known world.

The Realm of Aeldrin

A World Under Gathering Shadow

The Realm of Aeldrin was not always a land of isolated strongholds and fading roads. Once, caravans travelled freely across the plains, dwarf roads cut through mountains, and villages stretched from coast to forest beneath the protection of ancient alliances.

Those days are fading.

Across the eastern lands, darkness spreads westward. Villages vanish. Forests become twisted and silent. Strange creatures emerge from forgotten places, while old evils long buried begin to stir beneath ruined stone and shadowed earth.

No one agrees on where the darkness began.

Some claim ancient seals have weakened. Others speak of forgotten powers awakening beneath the earth. Priests whisper that mankind has strayed too far from the old paths, while scholars of the Star Colleges argue over prophecies hidden in celestial charts.

Whatever the truth, one thing is becoming impossible to deny:

The world is changing.

Many settlements that once stood safely beyond danger now find themselves on the edge of it.

Some places still endure.

Others already belong to the dark.

And in uncertain times, heroes become necessary.

The Shape of the Age

Civilization Is Retreating

For centuries the frontier slowly expanded into the wilderness. Now the opposite is happening.

Eastern roads become abandoned. Refugees travel west carrying stories of things that should not exist. Ancient fortresses find themselves facing enemies from directions they were never built to defend.

Forgotten Powers Remain

Beneath mountains, forests, and deep places of the world lie remnants of older ages — ancient dwarf halls, spirit shrines, lost kingdoms, sealed chambers.

Some contain knowledge. Some contain treasure. Some were sealed for good reason.

Monsters Are Growing Bolder

Goblins and beasts once stayed beyond the wild places. Now monsters roam close to villages and roads. Travellers vanish. Caravans disappear. Strange lights appear in forests at night.

Some creatures seem less like random threats and more like signs of a larger darkness moving through the land.

Old Alliances Have Fractured

The peoples of Aeldrin still endure, but many have turned inward. The elves withdraw deeper into their forests. Dwarven halls have fallen silent. Tribal peoples guard ancient traditions. Cities focus on their own survival.

Whether the peoples of the realm stand together again may decide what remains of the world.
